2011 Race Anouncements   
2011 Start Date
The 2011 race will start on Friday 3 June.  This will allow participating yachts to also enter the New York Yacht Club Annual Regatta presented by Rolex on 10-12 June and the Storm Trysail Club Block Island Race week 19-24 June.

Race Tracker
The internet race tracker is presented by the Barbados Tourism Authority. Information for all boats will be updated hourly during the race. The tracking site is now active.  
Class Splits and Starting Sequence
The list of boats by racing class and the starting sequence have been posted.  
Entry List
The Entry List giving skipper, navigator, boat info, home port and yacht club has been posted on the regatta documents page.  
27 May Press Release
The course record of 42 hours, 58 minutes, 12 seconds is clearly threatened by entries such as George David’s 91’ maxi Rambler with Peter Isler aboard as navigator and Jim Grundy’s brand new custom Tripp 75 Bella Pita as well as perennial contender for line honors, Jim Muldoon aboard his custom 72’ Donnybrook Prim, entered by Henry Gibbons-Neff, is a modified Owens 41. Prim’s first Annapolis to Newport Race was in 1955 sailed by Morton Gibbons-Neff Jr. 54 years later this will be her 12th race. She already has two class wins.   read more...
2009 A2N Official Merchandise

Notice of Race Amendments
Amendments 1 & 2 to the Notice of Race have been posted.  Amendment No. 1 brings the wording on advertising into conformity with the 2009 ISAF Regulation 20.  Amendment No. 2 invokes the US SAILING prescription to the IRC allowing an additional spinnaker at no rating penalty in an OSR Category 2 race..  
Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions
The Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions are posted.  Online enty is open.  Entries close 29 May.  
Offshore Special Regulations
Compliance with the ISAF Special Regulations Governing Offshore Racing (OSR) for Category 2 races is required.  The OSR Cat 2 Regs, including the US Prescriptions are available through the link on the right of this page. Entrants will be mailed a copy of the US SAILING Special Regulations booklet.  The Annapolis to Newport Race OSR checklist including the additional Annapolis to Newport requirements is posted.  
Race Start Date
The date of the start of the 2009 race will be Friday 5 June. The schedule will allow sailing the Annapolis to Newport Race, the New York Yacht Club Annual Regatta and Storm Trysail Club's Block Island Race Week.  The Annapolis to Newport Race will provide racing in IRC and PHRF Divisions. A Double-Handed Division will race under IRC.  The Annapolis to Newport Race is one of the four offshore races in the US-IRC Gulf Stream Series, at least one of which must be sailed to qualify.

Press Releases
Mark Myers, winner of the Double_Handed Division with Andy Hughes, has been awarded the Gaither Scott Trophy. The Scott Trophy is awarded at the discretion of the race committee.  The  June 7 Press Release is posted. Earlier press releases are posted here.

Yacht Club Challenge Teams
There are now nine Yacht Club Challenge teams competing for the trophy donated by the City of Annapolis.  The skippers of the three yachts representing the winning club will receive a replica of the City of Annapolis town hall clock.  The teams are: click here.

ORC Special Regulations
There is an important change included in the 2006-2007 Category 2 ORC Regulations. As originally posted and reported here, 30% of the crew, including the captain, would be required to have safety at sea training within the 5 years before the start of the race. On 12 Dercember ISAF posted an amendment to the Cat 2 ORC Regs changing 30% to 20%.  An amendment to the NoR has been posted. US SAILING maintains a schedule of Safety at Sea Seminars.  
US-IRC Gulf Stream Series
The US-IRC Gulf Stream Series is made up of premiere events ranging from the Caribbean up the east coast to Nova Scota. The Annapolis to Newport race is one of the three offshore races included in the series. The other two are the Pineapple Cup Montego Bay Race and the Marblehead to Halifax Race. At least one of these three races is required to qualify for the series.  
Stamford Yacht Club Ocean Racing Series
The Annapolis to Newport race is a qualifier for three series trophies offered by Stamford Yacht Club. Boats racing in the IRC Division are eligible to compete for the Northern Ocean Racing Trophy. Boats in the PHRF Division are eligible to compete for the New England Lighthouse Trophy and boats in the IRC Double-Handed Division are eligible to compete for the Double-Handed Ocean Racing Trophy. Double-Handed Seminar
AYC hosted a discussion on double-handed racing on Thursday April 12 from 6:30 to 8:00. The discussion was led by experienced double-handed skipper David Schaeffer. Crew selection, boat preparation and offshore practices were covered.   read more...
